Job summary

CalPortland is seeking a Ready-Mix Driver to transport freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to job sites, performing routine vehicle adjustments and ensuring safe operation. The role emphasizes customer service, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

Applicants must hold a current Commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes and tank endorsement, maintain a valid DOT medical certificate, and exhibit a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• Must have current Commercial Class A or B driver's license with airbrakes and tank endorsement.
• Safe driving record with DMV printout; no serious violations within 36 months; no more than two moving violations in 24 months.
• Must have a current DOT Medical Certificate.
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions.
• Familiarity with slump testing is preferred.
• Good attendance and punctuality a must.
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather.
• Physical ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift up to 60 lbs., drive and shift gears.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with hours varying; overtime, weekends and nights may be required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ready-mix concrete to various job sites.
• Operate a multi-axle mixer truck safely, obeying all traffic laws.
• Clean and wash vehicle and remove concrete buildup on exterior parts.
• Must be willing to work according to customer demands.
• Operate a radio to communicate with company personnel.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies, state and federal regulations.
• Report all incidents/injuries to management promptly.
• Attend safety meetings as scheduled by management.

Job Summary

The Ready-Mix Driver will be responsible for all duties of the position, including the transporting of freshly mixed concrete from the batch plant to the job site in a safe manner. This individual will be responsible for making normal operating adjustments to the equipment and material being hauled. We are seeking a candidate with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and great customer service skills.

Compensation

$25 hourly - Probationary pay; $35-$40 hourly - Post probationary period pay

Education

High School Diploma/GED

Requirements/Qualifications

• Must have current Commercial Class A or B driver’s license with airbrakes and tank endorsement
• Safe driving record (will have to provide DMV H-6 printout) - no serious moving violations within the past 36 months; no more than two moving violations within the past 24 months
• Must have a current Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Certificate
• Ability to read a map and understand verbal and GPS driving route instructions
• Must have familiarity with slumps
• Good attendance and punctuality a must
• Ability to work in extremes of hot and cold weather
• Must have the physical ability to: climb, stoop, bend, squat, frequently lift extension chutes (up to 60 lbs.), stretch, drive/sit and shift gears
• Adhere to all safety regulations including company policies, State, and Federal regulations
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule with flexible hours, hours vary; overtime work, weekends and nights, may be required

Preferred

• Experience in ready-mix or heavy construction industries
• 2+ years of commercial driving experience

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to a post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) registration/clearance as well as ongoing alcohol and drug testing.
