Job summary

Sylvan Learning Center is seeking enthusiastic Reading and Writing Tutors to deliver after-school programs for elementary to high school students. You will use pre-planned lessons and work with small groups (no more than three students) to boost reading and writing skills in a fun, supportive setting.

Positions are part-time, with flexible hours, and not remote. A four-year degree or equivalent and teaching credentials are preferred, along with experience and knowledge of phonics and reading

Qualifications

• Four year degree or equivalent preferred.
• State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired).
• Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred.
• Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of tablet computers preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead instruction in reading and writing for groups of up to 3 students.
• Work with pre-planned lessons; no lesson planning required.
• Motivate students to be successful and engaged in learning.
• Provide a fun, supportive and organized learning environment.
