Job summary

Sylvan Learning Center is seeking reading and writing teachers to engage students with phonics and comprehension. You’ll work in small groups of up to three, following pre-planned lessons with no homework grading, and enjoy a flexible, part-time schedule.

Open hours are weekdays 3:30–8:30 and Saturday mornings 9:00–1:00. A Bachelor’s Degree is required, teaching credentials are preferred for some subjects, and local candidates with reliable transportation are essential.

• Must enjoy teaching, working, and inspiring students.
• Local candidates with reliable transportation; authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Lead instruction for reading and writing in small groups (max 3 students).
• Follow pre-planned lessons; no homework to grade.
• Work 2–5 days/week with 3–5 hour shifts; open hours 3:30–8:30 weekdays and 9:00–1:00 Saturdays.

Reading Teachers Wanted for Fun After-School Tutoring! Sylvan Learning Center is looking for fun, dedicated teachers to help and inspire students. We are currently looking for teachers who are able to teach reading and writing at all levels. Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers.

Sylvan creates individualized learning plans for students of all abilities. Working with well-behaved groups of only three students, you will be responsible for leading instruction and motivating students to be successful. There is no lesson plan to create, no homework to grade, no parent-conferencing, and scheduling is flexible. Enjoy all of the benefits of teaching, without any of the downsides!

What you should know:
