Job summary

Dallas College is seeking part-time Work-Study tutors to support literacy development on campus. Tutors provide one-on-one or small-group reading instruction, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension, and assist with literacy-related homework in a supportive classroom setting.

Responsibilities include maintaining progress records, coordinating with site supervisors, and participating in required training hours.

Qualifications

• Must be an undergraduate student awarded Federal Work-Study funds through FAFSA.
• Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
• Enrolled in at least 6 credit hours during Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
• No outstanding balances or registration blocks.
• Must have reliable transportation to off-campus worksites (if applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring to students in reading, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Assist students with homework assignments related to literacy.
• Engage students in reading activities, games, and discussions to make learning enjoyable.
• Support the classroom teacher or program staff in creating a positive learning environment.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and tutoring sessions.
• Communicate regularly with the site supervisor regarding student needs and progress.
• Adhere to all site-specific policies, procedures, and confidentiality guidelines.
• Participate in required training sessions related to literacy instruction and child development.
• Complete required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
