Njaseps is seeking a reading specialist to support classroom teaching and extend literacy instruction. You will work with teachers, therapists, and paraprofessionals to implement a quality, evidence-based reading program tailored to individual needs.

The role includes assessing students, delivering professional development, and collaborating on school-wide reading initiatives. You will communicate recommendations to parents and participate in IEP meetings.

Formación

• Valid NJ DOE Reading Specialist Certification required.
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication with parents and staff.
• Passionate about improving literacy and love of reading for students.

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct reading instruction to small groups and individuals based on student needs.
• Assess students' reading abilities and implement targeted interventions.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and paraprofessionals to weave literacy into the curriculum.
• Lead professional development sessions on best practices in reading instruction.
• Evaluate and recommend reading programs for school-wide use.
• Monitor progress, adjust strategies, and document interventions.
• Collaborate to tailor evidence-based literacy strategies for students with special needs.
• Communicate recommendations and strategies to support reading at home.
• Attend and participate in IEP meetings providing input.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
