Job summary

BASIS Baton Rouge Materra seeks a Reading Specialist to start ASAP. You will collaborate with K-4 teachers to design engaging reading instruction that improves fluency and comprehension across content areas at a brand-new campus opened in August 2021.

The role emphasizes assessment, differentiated instruction, and ongoing collaboration with staff. Requirements include a teaching credential, fingerprint clearance, and at least two years of teaching experience, with advanced degrees preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in teaching subject; advanced degree preferred.
• Valid fingerprint clearance or state background check.
• Credentials to teach in home state/country and passage of state tests.
• Minimum 2 years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze assessment results with teachers to inform instruction.
• Plan with K-4 teachers to design reading instruction for fluency and comprehension across content areas.
• Attend weekly planning sessions to identify students needing differentiated instruction.
• Provide intervention to support reading comprehension and fluency in K-5.
• Conduct and analyze ongoing assessments using multiple tools.
• Model effective teaching practices to build teacher capacity in differentiation.
• Meet with administration to discuss student progress regularly.
• Attend parent-teacher conferences as needed.
