Job summary

Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a Reading Teacher to support students as they construct meaning in reading, under the direction of the principal. The reading teacher provides services to administrators, counselors, teachers, and parents, and uses both informal and standardized measures to diagnose strengths and needs of individual students and/or groups.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in reading, an Advanced Professional Certificate, Maryland reading specialist

Qualifications

• Master's degree or equivalent in reading and Advanced Professional Certificate.
• Maryland reading specialist certification.
• Three years teaching and/or clinical experience.
• Experience administering, analyzing, and interpreting standardized tests.

Responsibilities

• The reading teacher supports students as they construct meaning in reading.
• Under the direction of the principal, the reading teacher provides services to administrators, counselors, teachers, and parents.
• Uses informal and standardized measures to diagnose strengths and needs of individual students and/or groups.
• The reading teacher teaches basic and developmental reading.
