Job summary

Global Educational Excellence (GEE) seeks a Reading Specialist for Frontier International Academy in Warren, MI. This exempt, full-time role focuses on targeted literacy interventions and strengthening reading instruction in collaboration with classroom teachers.

You will deliver focused 1:1 and small-group support, develop Reading Instruction Plans with progress monitoring, and administer assessments to guide instruction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate; Reading Specialist endorsement (RX) strongly preferred.
• CAP eligibility may be available for qualified candidates.
• Satisfactory criminal background check required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver intensive literacy intervention one-on-one and in small groups.
• Develop and maintain Reading Instruction Plans with ongoing progress monitoring.
• Administer reading assessments and adjust instruction based on results.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate Tier 2/3 support within MTSS.
• Maintain accurate progress records in compliance with school/state requirements.
• Communicate with parents regarding reading goals, progress, and strategies for home.

Reports To: Academy Principal

POSITION SUMMARY

The Reading Specialist provides targeted literacy intervention and instructional support for students with reading difficulties, while partnering with classroom teachers to strengthen reading instruction across the school.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate; Reading Specialist endorsement (RX) strongly preferred
• Candidates who do not yet hold a Michigan teaching certificate may qualify through enrollment in GEE's Career Advancement Program (CAP), which provides a supported pathway to Michigan certification. CAP eligibility is determined at the time of application.
• Satisfactory criminal background check

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver intensive one-on-one and small-group literacy intervention based on individual student need
• Develop and maintain individualized Reading Instruction Plans with ongoing progress monitoring
• Administer reading assessments and use results to adjust instructional strategies
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to coordinate Tier 2/3 support within a multi-tiered system
• Maintain accurate student progress records in compliance with school and state requirements
• Communicate with parents regarding reading goals, progress, and strategies to support learning at home

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, and standing for extended periods. Work environment includes elevated noise levels.
