Job summary

Wayne County Public Schools is seeking a Tutor to provide academic assistance to students, either in group or individual settings. This temporary role reports to the principal and supports students’ understanding of subject matter while promoting positive attitudes toward learning.

The position is ten-month, at-will, non-exempt, with compensation ranging from $15.00/hour (non-certified) to $35.00/hour (certified).

Qualifications

• Two-year degree or 48 semester hours of college-level coursework.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrate functional knowledge of computers.

Responsibilities

• Follow all rules, policies, and procedures, along with state and federal regulations pertaining to schools.
• Provide academic assistance to assigned tutees, either in a group or individually.
• Help students develop positive attitudes toward learning and studying.
• Help students develop self-confidence and reduce fear of failure in academic work.
• Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
