Job summary

Ampact’s Reading Corps seeks a Reading Tutor to help students become stronger readers at a local school. You’ll deliver 20-minute tutoring blocks, following a structured schedule and coaching from an on-site mentor. Training and ongoing support are provided by the program.

Positions run for the 2026-27 school year, with full-time (35 hours/week) and part-time (25 hours/week) options. You’ll participate in a nationwide tutoring initiative backed by AmeriCorps and Ampact, with regular progress

Qualifications

• Dependable with good attendance.
• Able to follow instructions and make improvements based on feedback.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (like email and navigating online).
• Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing.
• 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States.
• Ability to succesfully complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Be a caring adult who's focused on helping children thrive
• Lead tutoring sessions and follow a schedule to ensure students receive support
• Track student progress and meet regularly with the school's on-site coach
• Conduct skill assessments and enter student scores in data software
• Commit to your own growth through coaching and training
• Share your experience with the community
