Job summary

ESC Region 7 in Kilgore, Texas seeks a Reading Academy Specialist to support districts and charters in raising student achievement through professional development and coaching in K-8 Language Arts and STR-based reading.

Responsibilities include data collection, analysis and reporting, providing STR-aligned instructional practices, and collaborating with Region 7 staff to improve literacy outcomes; this is a full-time, on-site role funded by grants.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Required specialized training in K-8 literacy.
  • Prefer elementary and/or secondary degree or certification.
  • Proficient in the Science of Teaching Reading.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and present research-based, data-driven professional development for Region 7 customers based on needs assessment data in the area of RLA and Texas Reading Academies.
  • Provide training and technical support to customers of Region 7 on STR-aligned instructional practices according to the guidelines of the ESC Reading Academies Implementation grant.
  • Provide technical assistance to Region 7 customers for the purpose of improving student performance.Participate with other ESCs, TEA, and Region 7 ESC staff in activities designed to promote improved student performance in literacy.
  • Work collaboratively with all ESC staff in serving the customers of Region 7.
  • Demonstrate professional behavior in all interactions with ESC staff and customers.
  • Attend and participate in ESC and TEA required meetings and trainings.
  • Follow Region 7 ESC policies and procedures.
  • Continue to achieve necessary competence through professional development training.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

Job Summary: Assist districts/charters in increasing student achievement through professional development and coaching technical assistance in the areas of K-8 Language Arts and STR-based reading curriculum, instruction, and assessment, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Training:
  • Prefer a Master's Degree in a related field
  • Required specialized training in K-8 literacy
  • Prefer an elementary and/or secondary degree or certification
  • Proficient in the Science of Teaching Reading

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of related experience.
  • Prefer ten or more years of experience in K-8 literacy instruction.
  • Experience in training and coaching adult learners.

Knowledge / Skills:

Funding

All Region 7 employees are at-will employees. Because your assignment is funded by grants, federal funding, and/or special funding, your continued employment is expressly conditioned on the availability of funding for the position. If funding becomes unavailable due to loss of state/federal funding or due to financial constraints of Region 7 ESC, your position is subject to immediate termination.

Position Type: Full-Time

Salary: $83,615 to $114,365 Per Year
