Job summary

Paramount Personnel seeks Tarmaccers for our Tiverton area project. This hands-on role covers reactive repairs, patching, winter service operations, and emergency callouts. You will lay and bed materials, spread aggregates, and ensure safety and compliance on site.

Responsibilities include pothole repairs, roller compaction, and coordinating with a busy team. 40-hour weeks, overtime after 40, and on-call duties on a rota basis.

Qualifications

• CSCS Card is required for site access and safe working.
• Driving Licence preferred for site travel.
• PPE provided/required to wear on site.
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe site working practices.
• Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.

• Spread aggregate over road surfaces with a shovel.
• Repair potholes and perform patching and minor civils tasks.
• Lay bedding of sand, concrete or mortar on prepared foundation.
• Lay new slabs or stones and fill joints with mortar.
• Ensure works comply with legislation, standards and safety procedures.
• Undertake emergency and winter maintenance and on-call duties.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members and public.

Our clients are looking for Tarmaccers to join their team in the Tiverton area. This will be a practical, hands-on role that includes a range of tasks such as reactive repairs, patching, winter service operations, and responding to emergency callouts

Responsibilities

• Compacting the surface using a roller
• Spreading aggregate over road surfaces using a shovel
• Remove damaged paving slabs and kerb stones
• Laying bedding of sand, concrete, or mortar on a prepared foundation
• Laying new slabs or stones
• Filling joints with mortar
• Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with relevant legislation, standards, and safety procedures
• Carrying out reactive and planned maintenance tasks such as pothole repairs, patching, and minor civils
• Undertaking emergency and out-of-hours call-out work on a rota basis
• Maintaining good communication with supervisors, team members, and members of the public

Requirements

• CSCS Card
• Driving Licence (preferred)
• PPE
• Previous experience in highway maintenance or civil engineering works
• Flexible and willing to participate in a standby rota for emergency and winter maintenance
• Strong awareness of Health & Safety and safe site working practices
• Ability to carry out physically demanding outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Pay & Hours

• Rate of pay: £14.00 per hour, depending upon experience
• Hours of work: 40 hours per week with time and a half after 40 hours, and Saturdays and double time on a Sunday.
