Job summary

RELX (Elsevier) is seeking an experienced full stack developer with React and Node.js expertise to join the Clinical Key Web team. You will collaborate with Product, UX designers, and engineers to build frontends for a healthcare mission‑driven product used by physicians, nurses, medical students, and other roles daily to improve patient care and research.

About the teamThe Clinical Key Web team is responsible for the frontend for one of Elsevier's flagship products used by thousands of physicians, nurses, medical students, and other roles daily to improve patient care and research.

Requirements

• Possess current frontend and backend skills in both React and Node. Only candidates with this skill set will be considered for this role.
• Experience working on moderate to large web monoliths
• Have taken an application(s) through the full project life cycle process.
• Possess extensive experience utilizing the Agile delivery process for software development.
• Experience collaborating with both technical and not technical professionals to drive innovation.
• Possess an understanding of crucial applications/products in the Science, Medicine, Education business vertical.
• Automation mindset — experience identifying repetitive or scalable work and building tools, scripts, or AI-assisted workflows (e.g., agents, skills, plugins) to reduce manual effort and increase delivery velocity for yourself and your team.

Responsibilities

• Designing, developing, and maintaining complex applications using React (front end) and Node.js (back end).
• Ensuring seamless integration between client-side and server-side components to deliver responsive, scalable, and secure web applications.
• Developing user interfaces for a large web monolith and small to moderate micro-frontends and services, maintaining high standards for accessibility, performance, and usability.
• Implementing and optimizing UI components that align with enterprise design systems and technical standards.
• Lead applications through the entire software development life cycle (SDLC) — from requirements gathering and system design to deployment and maintenance.
• Ensure high-quality releases through continuous integration, code reviews, and automated testing.
• Identify opportunities to automate or scale recurring engineering work — building internal tools, AI-assisted agents/skills/plugins, or workflow automation — to increase quality and throughput for yourself and the broader team.

U.S. National Base Pay Range: $86,600 - $144,400. Geographic differentials may apply in some locations to better reflect local market rates.

If performed in Maryland, the base pay range is $90,900 - $151,700.If performed in New Jersey, the base pay range is $102,333 - $163,467.

This job is eligible for an annual incentive bonus.
