Job summary

Heitmeyer Consulting is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead mobile development with React Native (TypeScript). You will design, build, and ship cross-platform apps while mentoring others and championing secure coding practices.

You will drive architecture decisions, integrate with backend services, and apply AI-assisted workflows to accelerate delivery and quality across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Proven RN apps delivery end-to-end including architecture.

JOB SUMMARY

Heitmeyer Consulting has a banking client who is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, to a hands-on technical leader and key contributor in a cross-functional team, often acting as a technical lead. You'll design, build, and ship cross-platform mobile applications using React Native (TypeScript), integrating withmodern backend services on AWS. You'll drive execution, mentor others, and champion operational excellence in mobile development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Modern Software Development

• Design & Build: Architect and implement cross-platform mobile applications using React Native and TypeScript, following best practices for performance, accessibility, and maintainability.
• Mobile Architecture: Deliver features using scalable React Native architecture patterns, shared component libraries, and modular design approaches that support long-term maintainability and reuse.
• Integration & Networking: Implement robust API integration and handle authentication/authorization.

AI Agentic-First Engineering

• Develop using AI-assisted workflows with tools such as GitHub Copilot, and Claude to accelerate coding, refactoring, documentation, and test generation.
• Leverage agentic patterns for multi-step tasks such as feature scaffolding, modernization, UI component generation, dependency analysis, and CI/CD interactions- with appropriate human-in-the-loop controls.
• Apply AI-assisted PR review and security scanning, validating suggestions with engineering judgment and secure-by-design principles.
• Continuously evaluate and improve how AI tools are used across the SDLC to increase throughput, quality, and developer experience.

Quality, Delivery & Operations

• Quality Engineering: Own testing strategy, including unit and integration testing using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., Jest, React Testing Library), along with mobile end-to-end testing approaches where appropriate.
• CI/CD & Automation: Shape mobile CI/CD pipelines supporting React Native builds and deployments using tools such as Fastlane, CircleCI, or equivalent.
• Observability & Performance: Instrument apps using Firebase and New Relic; monitor crash rates, performance metrics, and user analytics.
• Security by Design: Follow secure coding practices and remediate findings; PCI & SOX awareness is helpful.
• Technical Leadership: Lead design reviews, mentor peers, and guide pull requests with a high bar for craftsmanship.
• Operate What You Build: Practice build-it/run-it ownership from development through production.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• 5-8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant experience building cross-platform mobile applications using React Native (TypeScript)
• Proven experience delivering React Native applications end-to-end, including architecture, development, and deployment
• Strong understanding of modern mobile application architecture patterns
• Production experience integrating with RESTful APIs
• Strong testing discipline, CI/CD experience, and code review best practices
• Experience with mobile release processes and production support

NICE to HAVE SKILLS

• Native mobile development experience (Android and/or iOS)
• Experience with mobile CI/CD automation (e.g., Fastlane) or feature flag systems
• Experience with accessibility standards and internationalization
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Amazon Q, Claude)
• Exposure to DevSecOps practices
• PCI and SOX awareness
