Job summary

Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join the REACH Team. The successful candidate will administer medications, perform daily medical assessments, transcribe orders, and maintain accurate nursing records across multiple shifts.

The RN will coordinate nursing services, conduct vital signs, participate in treatment teams, and respond to medical emergencies as needed. This position requires strong clinical judgment and Collaborative care with the REACH

Responsibilities

• Admits clients to the program; obtains physician orders; orders medications; transcribes orders.
• Administers medications both intramuscularly and orally.
• Completes medically related assessments including taking vital signs.
• Conducts comprehensive medical and psychiatric review for REACH clients; provides individual assessments.
• Provides and distributes a daily update for all assigned cases.
• Facilitates psycho-educational groups for patients.
• May perform urine drug screens; labels specimens; administers TB tests; monitors lab results.
• Maintains thorough documentation of daily activities including nursing and treatment services.
• Attends and participates on treatment team; attends staff meetings.
• Coordinates nursing services to clients including injections, vena punctures and documentation; collaborates with providers.
• Schedules lab tests, injections and ECGs; reschedules appointments missed by clients with case manager.
• Responds to medical emergencies and calls EMS when warranted.
• Enters data into computer database; researches client information/insurance status.
• Refers clients to community resources for housing, dental care, clinics, hubs.

Job description

The Richmond Behavioral Health Authority is seeking a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) to join our REACH Team. The successful candidates will perform difficult skilled human support and administrative work administering daily medications, providing daily medical assessments, ordering medications, managing medication administration records, transcribing doctor’s orders, drawing blood, documenting activities, attending clinical staffing and training meetings, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Developmental Services Residential Manager with additional medical oversight provided by the REACH Nurse Supervisor.

Essential Functions

• Admits clients to the program; obtains physician orders; orders medications; collaborates with pharmacy; transcribes orders.
• Administers medications both intramuscularly and orally.
• Completes medically related assessments including taking vital signs.
• Conducts comprehensive medical and psychiatric review for REACH clients; provides individual assessments.
• Provides and distributes a daily update for all assigned cases.
• Facilitates psycho-educational groups for patients.
• May perform urine drug screens; labels specimens via computer printout; administers and interprets TB tests; monitors and tracks lab results.
• Maintains thorough documentation of daily activities including nursing and treatment services.
• Attends and participates on treatment team; attends staff meetings as required.
• Coordinates, schedules and ensures appropriate level of nursing services to clients to include monitoring, administration and documentation of injections, vena punctures and other nursing services; collaborates with treatment providers.
• Schedules lab tests, injections and electrocardiograms; reschedules appointments missed by clients with case manager.
• Responds to medical emergency situations and calls emergency medical services for consumers and staff when warranted.
• Enters data into computer database for new clients; updates client data when needed; researches client information/insurance status.
• Refers clients to resources in the community for housing, dental clinics, NA and AA groups, food pantry, health clinics, primary care physicians, library for research or computer use, etc.
