Job summary

WMCH Weirton Medical Center is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to perform high quality sonographic procedures including color Doppler, abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts exams. The role requires RDMS certification and an ARDMS specialty; CPR within 30 days of hire is also expected.

Qualifications

• RDMS certification through ARDMS.
• One ARDMS specialty certification (ABD/OBGYN/PS/RVT/Breast/MSK).
• CPR certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Explain tests to patients and assist in proper positioning.
• Maintain work area and report equipment issues; ensure safety.
• Produce high quality ultrasound scans per protocol and orders.
• Select transducer and adjust controls based on organ and depth.
• Maintain knowledge of scanning equipment to maximise image quality.
• Assist Radiologists with patient procedures.
• Maintain records and send images to PACS; track as required.
• Keep ARDMS CME points up to date.
• Participate in in-service education and training.
• Provide direction to and assist in cross-training technologists.
• Comply with hospital and department policies.
• Perform related duties (statistics, QA, etc.).
• Follow sterile/OSHA standards to prevent cross-contamination.
• Assess patient information in RMS and update records accordingly.
• May handle oxygen tubing as ordered by physician.

Education

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification

ARDMS specialty certification in Abdomen / OB-GYN / PS / RVT / Breast / MSK

CPR certification within 30 days of hire
