Responsibilities

• Promote dental health: prophylaxis, oral cancer screening, radiographs, charting
• Prepare patients: welcoming, seating, draping
• Provide information and answer patient questions
• Maintain instruments: sterilizing, sharpening, selecting
• Select materials and evaluate patient oral health
• Perform prophylaxis: cleaning teeth and beneath gum margins
• Detect disease: screenings, radiographs, periodontal assessment
• Prevent decay: applying fluorides and cavity-preventing agents
