Dental Hygienist Job Responsibilities

• Promote dental health through procedures such as prophylaxis, oral cancer screening, radiographic studies, and charting of decay and disease, in compliance with the Dental Practice Act.
• Prepare patients for treatment by welcoming, seating, and draping them.
• Provide information and answer questions for patients and staff.
• Maintain instrumentation by sharpening, sterilizing, and selecting tools.
• Select materials and evaluate patients' oral health for treatment planning.
• Perform dental prophylaxis by cleaning teeth and beneath gum margins.
• Detect disease through oral cancer screening, visual and tactile examination, and radiographs.
• Apply fluorides and other agents to prevent cavities.

Dental Hygienist Job Requirements

• Active dental hygiene license in PA
• Knowledge of dental procedures and terminology
• Understanding of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality
• Excellent communication skills for patient education
