Job summary

XP Power in Irvine, CA is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to support the development and delivery of switch‑mode power supplies used across Industrial, Healthcare and Technology sectors. You will test, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies, building prototypes and performing fault analysis.

You will collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers and technicians to achieve optimal solutions, produce technical reports, and contribute to new product

Qualifications

  • Minimum of associate’s degree in electronic engineering or related technical discipline (BSc preferred).
  • Knowledge of AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion topologies (fly-back, forward, boost, buck, buck-boost) preferred.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment for characterization and design (oscilloscopes, DMMs, EMI analyzers, loads, sources).
  • Experience with high voltage systems and firmware debugging is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of analog, mixed-signal and/or power semiconductor characteristics with fault isolation techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.
  • Proven ability to work in a team and across functional departments.
  • Proactive and aggressive attitude in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support electrical design, development and delivery of switch-mode power supplies.

Job Description

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, to support the electrical design, development and delivery of switch-mode power supplies used within Industrial, Healthcare and Technology applications. This poistion will require testing, troubleshooting, calibration, repairs of AC-DC and DC-DC power supplies. Key responsabiliutes will include but not limited to:

  • Work in a R&D team of electrical, mechanical, manufacturing engineers and technicians on supporting product design in line with XP Core Values.
  • Provide technical expertise in new basic product design and modification of existing products.
  • Responsible for the building of prototypes to documentation
  • Working closely with the electrical and mechanical design engineers and technicians to achieve the optimum solution
  • Constructing and testing of early prototype breadboards and magnetics
  • Perform fault reproduction, troubleshooting, system characterization, and root cause analysis of product issues, while ensuring efficient bug tracking and resolution.
  • Deliver comprehensive technical reports
  • Participate in new product development during the qualification phase for training and ramp-up.

Qualifications:
Qualifications

  • Minimum of associate’s degree in electronic engineering or a related technical discipline, Bsc is preffered.
  • Knowledge of AC-DC and DC-DC power conversion circuit topologies, such as fly-back, forward, boost, buck, and buck-boost converters is highly preffered.
  • Proficiency in using lab equipment for characterization and design of power supplies and systems (oscilloscopes, DMMs, EMI analyzers, loads, sources, etc.).
  • Experience with high voltage systems and firmware debugging is a strong plus.
  • Understanding of analog, mixed-signal, and/or power semiconductor operational characteristics, with the ability to apply fault isolation techniques at both component and board levels.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and across functional departments.
  • A proactive and aggressive attitude, with the ability to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:
$70,000-$70,000 per year
