Mission Support and Test Services, LLC (MSTS) manages and operates the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS) for the U.S. National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). Our mission is to help ensure the security of the United States and its allies by providing high‑hazard experimentation and incident response capabilities. Our vision is to be the user site of choice for large‑scale, high‑hazard national‑security experimentation.

Responsibilities
  • Perform radiological surveys and monitor radiological conditions in assigned areas under the guidance of a qualified technician.
  • Verify that radiological instrumentation (air sampling equipment, dose‑rate meters, contamination monitors, etc.) functions properly before use.
  • Place approved radiological signs to identify worksites and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Complete data collection and measurement for limited scope problems using established procedures.
  • Follow radiological work permits, work‑packages, and procedures, ensuring work is performed in accordance with approved documents.
  • Participate in briefings concerning radiological conditions and requirements.
  • Generate records for radiological surveys and other job activities using appropriate forms and logbooks.
  • Implement stop‑work authority when radiological or safety conditions warrant.
  • Maintain training and qualifications, attending onsite and offsite training as required.
  • Perform related work as assigned by supervisor under the guidance of a qualified technician.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in a related field or high school diploma plus 2 years of progressive related experience.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Outlook.
  • Must be fitted for and qualified to use respirators and personal protective equipment.
  • Participation in National Response Asset Deployment activities.
  • Participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP) if required.
  • Qualify within 1 month of start date for the DOE Radiological Control Technician (RCT) standardized core training programs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; self‑motivated and able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Basic knowledge of radiation protection principles.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Prerequisite pre‑placement physical examination and drug screen.
Other Information

The primary work location is the Nevada National Security Site, located 65 mi northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. Work schedule is 4/10s Monday through Thursday (subject to change); overtime and on‑call work may be required.

Hourly range for this position is: $25.33 – $38.00.
