The position requires an Associate’s Degree in Respiratory Care, potential SDS or RPSGT within 2 years, and 0–3 years of healthcare experience, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree in Allied Health Sciences Respiratory Care.
• Participate in ASTEP if SDS or RPSGT not on hire.
• 0-3 years healthcare experience.
• RCP, RRT, BLS.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sleep studies and sleep staging per AASM standards.
• Provide QA feedback and calibrate equipment.
• Collaborate with Team Leader, Assistant Manager, Manager and Medical Director.
• Assess patients to determine needs; evaluate and treat sleep disorders including polysomnography, extended EEG, MSLT/MWT.
• Apply and titrate oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator; airway management.
• Mentor staff and supervise new sleep technicians; assist with supply inventory.
• Provide coverage as needed.

He/she works closely with the Team Leader, Assistant Manager, Manager and Medical Director to assure excellent quality in diagnostic and therapeutic services in the Sleep Lab. Provides excellent patient experience by following all protocols, policy and procedures and hospital values. Professional duties include patient assessment to determine patient specific needs, comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including polysomnography, extended EEG, MSLT/MWT, application and titration of oxygen, CPAP/BiPAP and ventilator, airway management, blood gas sampling and analysis and patient/family education. Demonstrates skill in calibration and troubleshooting of diagnostic equipment, implementation of new test modalities. The RCP also assists in overseeing supply inventory, mentoring other staff, including orienting and supervising the work of new sleep technicians.
