Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative is seeking a Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) Engineering intern for the summer of 2027 at the Thomas Hill Power Plant. You will assist engineers to improve reliability of coal and gas plant fleets and participate in projects across MO, OK, AR with possible overnight stays.

Strong communication, organizational skills, and interest in power industry are required. Current students in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with at least two years toward a BS,

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with at least two years completed toward a BS.
• Strong verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and punctuality.
• Experience with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Reliability and Predictive Maintenance Engineers in tasks to increase reliability of coal and gas plant fleet.
• Participate in projects with possible overnight stays at MO, OK, AR plant sites.
• Support design and implementation of reliability improvement initiatives across sites.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot engineering challenges.
• Gather and analyze data to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist Reliability and Predictive Maintenance Engineers in various engineering tasks focused on increasing the reliability of our coal and gas plant fleet.
• Participate in projects that may require overnight or extended stays at our plant sites in MO, OK, AR
• Support the design and implementation of reliability improvement initiatives across multiple sites.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot and solve complex engineering challenges.
• Gather and analyze data to improve operational efficiency and reduce downtime.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Current students enrolled in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Mechanical preferred) with at least two years completed toward a Bachelor of Science degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, and a commitment to punctuality and attendance.
• Experience with engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MATLAB) is a plus.
• A proactive attitude with a strong interest in the power production industry.
