Job description

The RCFE Receptionist specializes in customer service, represents the first impression of the facility, greeting all guests as they enter the facility and upon answering the phone. Directs visitors to their desired locations. Maintains confidentiality and provides administrative support across the organization. Handles the flow of people through the business and ensures that all administration tasks are completed accurately and delivered with high quality and in a timely manner.

Essential Job Functions
  • Welcome visitors warmly and directs them to their desired locations.
  • Maintains security of the community and provides coverage of the front lobby ensuring no residents leave the building unattended.
  • Requires all guests to sign in and out.
  • Answer phones in a professional manner, routes calls to appropriate individuals and takes and relays messages when voice mail is not available.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively, provide stability and act as a role model for residents and facility staff.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and respect for the rights, dignity and individuality of every resident.
  • Respond to questions about the facility, as well as the care and services provided.
  • Maintains current knowledge of resident status, census, personnel and other relevant information.
  • Coordinate mail flow in and out of the facility and to the Residents’ mailboxes
  • Maintain an organized work area and ensure lobby area is tidy and welcoming. Re-directs residents to their rooms.
  • Receives and receipts rent checks and processes through the NEMS Accounting Department.
  • Creates file for residents receiving Home Health Services and ensures they document each visit.
  • Schedule resident appointments as directed.
  • Filing, auditing, faxing and e-mail as needed.
  • Successfully complete training requirements required by the Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, Residential Care Facility for the Elderly Regulations and NEMS Assisted Living in a timely manner.
  • Provides facility tours as directed.
  • Assist with activities set-up, as directed.
  • Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience
  • Must maintain current First Aid certification
  • Must maintain current CPR or BLS certification
  • Good physical and mental health.
  • Maintain a well-groomed professional appearance.
  • Effective use of interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Displays good judgment and problem solving.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and/or verbal directions.
  • Ability to establish and carry out priorities within established time frame.
  • Experience providing direct care to the elderly preferred.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Must keep Basic Life Support and First Aid certification current
  • Ability to work independently

  • Proficient in typing and Microsoft Office
Language
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.
  • Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin) preferred
  • Fluency in other languages are an asset.

The Department of Social Services licensing agency requires the taking of fingerprints and an affidavit on criminal convictions be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The Department of Social Services will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. An approval must be obtained prior to being present in the facility.
