Job summary

GDIT is seeking an RCDD Engineer to join the JSP ETM - NG program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The role requires reporting onsite with no telecommuting, supporting maintenance of Inside Plant cable infrastructure and completing EIPs for installation and testing.

Ideal candidates have a Top Secret clearance (or ability to obtain one), RCDD certification, and 8+ years of experience in technology system layout and structured cabling, with strong knowledge of NEC/IEEE/EIA/TIA standards.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Inside Plant cable infrastructure (conduit, cable trays, copper, fiber) at the Pentagon, Mark Center, and NCR.
• Follow JSP and industry standards; prepare Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) for cable racks and testing.
• Provide 24/7/365 breakfix on Inside Plant infrastructure and conduct on-site surveys.

Job description

GDIT is seeking an RCDD Engineer to join our Joint Service Provider Enterprise Transport Management - Next-Gen (JSP ETM - NG) program at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. Due to the nature of work this role entails, telecommuting is not allowed and will require the employee to report full-time onsite.

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:

• Responsible for maintaining the Inside Plant cable infrastructure to include conduit, cable trays, copper, coax, fiber and all associated elements in the Pentagon, Mark Center, & buildings within the NCR supported by JSP.
• Must follow JSP and commercial best practice procedures, standards and/or provide Engineering Installation Plans (EIPs) required for installation of cable racks, wiring of the racks and testing required during installation.
• O&M support to include an ISP Registered Communications Distribution Designers (RCDD) to support the maintenance and clean-up of 1800 or more Telecommunication rooms at the Pentagon, Mark Center and NCR, and outlying buildings under JSP Operations purview, to include on site surveys, weekly reports denoting survey results (except in extenuating circumstances), develop maintenance plan for corrections and ensure the EIA/TIA 568A & 568B Standard and standards are upheld. Responsible for performing 24/7/365 breakfix on all Inside Plant cable infrastructure under JSP purview.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED - REQUIRED:

• Security Clearance: Active Top Secret security clearance OR the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance
• Certification: Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD)
• Education: High School Diploma
• Experience: 8+ years developing layout and design for technology systems including voice, data, and structured cabling.
• Technical Skills:
• --- Must be well versed in BICSI rules, regulations, and standards.
• --- Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, EIA, TIA, industry standards and other applicable codes related to the design and layout of IT, low voltage and telecommunications systems.
• --- Experience with Microsoft Excel and Vizio for producing cutsheets and floorplans.
• Role Requirements:
• --- Strong knowledge of Structured Cabling Systems from an installation and basic design perspective.
• --- Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively to personnel of various expertise levels.
