Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Mid Root Cause Engineer (RCA) to conduct structured root-cause analyses of recurring and high-impact incidents across federal IT services. You will collect evidence from logs and metrics, lead RCA sessions, and define corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Responsibilities include applying RCA methodologies, documenting findings, and integrating RCA with ITIL Problem Management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Administration, or related field.
• 4–7 years in IT operations, incident/problem management, or reliability engineering.
• Strong ITIL knowledge and incident/problem management tooling.
• Proven RCA methodology experience and coaching ability.
• Analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Active secret security clearance or higher.

Responsibilities

• Apply RCA methodologies (5 Whys, fishbone, fault tree) based on impact.
• Analyze logs, traces, metrics, and incident timelines to find root causes.
• Lead cross-functional RCA sessions with operations, engineering and security.
• Translate findings into corrective and preventive actions.
• Define and track RCA metrics (recurrence, cycle time, etc.).
• Integrate RCA with ITIL Problem Management and continual service improvement.
• Produce high-quality RCA reports describing events, causes, and prevention steps.
• Identify systemic reliability risks across incidents.
