Job summary

River Oaks Hospital in New Orleans, LA, seeks a dedicated Psychiatric Tech (Mental Health Tech - RBT certified preferred) to join our clinical team. The Mental Health Tech assists in maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment, supports patient participation in activities, and performs technical care duties related to patient health and safety.

Shifts available days and nights; 36 hours per week; temporary 8-week assignment with potential extension; requires high school diploma, CPR, and minimum

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of experience with patients in behavioral health.
• CPR certification required; RBT certification highly desirable.
• Ability to apply de-escalation and crisis intervention techniques.
• Excellent verbal communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental and physical health assessments and document findings.
• Monitor patients during 15-minute checks and perform vitals.
• Maintain patient safety through effective handoffs and daily safety checks.
• Supervise group activities and assist in behavior management.
• Support treatment goals through compassionate patient care.
