Responsibilities

  • Data collection and maintaining classroom data systems.
  • Implement de-escalation, behavior management and restraint programs as directed.
  • Assist with daily classroom duties and activities of daily living.
  • Lifting, transfers and positioning of students as needed.
  • Support lunch, transportation and recess duties as assigned.
  • Facilitate inclusive activities and collaborate with the teacher.
  • Support implementation of IEPs and ABA programs per student plan.

Job Description

Position Title: Teacher Assistant
Classification: Non-exempt
Position Type: Fulltime
Salary: Teacher Assistant Salary Schedule*
Probationary Period: 90 days
Reports To: Program Supervisor

Summary/Objective:
The Teacher Assistant works under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher and together with other members of the educational team to implement student IEPs. Teacher Assistants work with the teacher to maintain a clean and efficient classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

Essential Functions/Duties
  • Data Collection.
  • Implementation of general de-escalation, behavior management and restraint programs.
  • General classroom duties as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Lifting, transfers and positioning of students.
  • Assisting with activities of daily living and personal care.
  • Assistance with routine classroom clerical and maintenance activities.
  • Lunch, transportation and recess duties as assigned by the classroom teacher.
  • Implementation of inclusive activities as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Implementation of classroom data management systems.
  • Implementation of academic and applied behavior analysis programs per student IEP.
  • Communicates student issues and concerns to teachers and team members.
  • Participation in community experience, vocational placements and field trips.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth.
Competency: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have a strong core knowledge and experience working with children who have severe disabilities.
  • Experience in a special education classroom setting.
  • Must be able to provide a safe and motivating classroom environment that promotes and supports students’ academic, social, behavioral and daily living skills.

*Rate/Salary is determined by educational degree and years of experience. Position Type: Full-time

Salary: $24 to $34 Per Hour

Job Requirements
  • Required Education and Experience:
    High School Degree, Associates Degree Preferred.
    Preferred Education and Experience:
    At Least two years experience preferred.
    Specialized training in applied behavior analysis preferred.
    Specialized training in de-escalation and restraint techniques preferred.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
