Job summary

Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District in North Dighton, MA, seeks a Registered Behavior Technician to support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. You will work closely with the district BCBA and classroom staff to deliver ABA interventions, promote communication and social skills, and assist with data collection and progress monitoring.

Immediate starting date. Prior experience with ASD and behavior plans is preferred.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other providers to ensure goal carry-over.
  • Provide reinforcement for skill acquisition.
  • Collect baseline data for teachers and BCBA.
  • Support behavioral issues per behavior intervention plan.
  • Collect student work samples as directed.
  • Assist students in accessing the curriculum.
  • Communicate confidential information to parents as directed.
  • Monitor students in unstructured settings and on field trips.
  • Monitor assistive technology use and provide feedback.
  • Teach skills for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction.
  • Assist with daily living skills as required.
  • Provide staff training and development.
  • Report concerns to teachers and BCBA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by administration

Job Description

School Year Position – Full Time

Goal:
To work closely with the district BCBA and classroom staff to provide ABA interventions to students that encourage socially acceptable replacement behaviors so students can build and improve their communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills.

Essential Functions:
To support students with diverse learning and behavioral needs, teachers, and special education programs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work in close collaboration with the district BCBA.
  • Takes direction from supervising teacher(s) and/or Individual Education Program (IEP) contact person.
  • Respects children's confidentiality in all interactions with staff, parents and school community.
  • Uses specialized strategies and techniques as directed by supervising teacher(s).
  • Develops an understanding of the student's accommodations, modifications, goals, and objectives as stated on the IEP.
  • Assists in implementation of 1:1 or small group behavioral instructional strategies, accommodations, modifications, and organizational skills.
  • Assists in implementation of testing accommodations.
  • Assists with study skills and strategies.
  • Models and promotes appropriate communication, socialization and conversation skills.
  • Works with special service providers to ensure carry-over of goals throughout the day.
  • Provides subtle reinforcement for all skills in the acquisition stage.
  • Collects baseline data to be provided to teacher(s) and BCBA as necessary.
  • Support students' behavioral issues including assisting with the implementation of the behavior intervention plan.
  • Collects student work samples as directed.
  • Assists students in accessing the curriculum.
  • Provides information for confidential communications to parents via agendas, logs and data sheets under direction and supervision of the supervising teacher(s).
  • Monitors students in unstructured settings such as hallways, cafeteria, recess, etc.
  • Attends field trips as required.
  • Monitors use and functions of assistive technology and provide feedback to supervising teacher(s).
  • Uses assistive communication devices with students.
  • Teaches specific skills required for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction.
  • Assists with functional daily living skills including but not limited to feeding, toileting, dressing, hygiene skills, mobility and vision assistance, and others as required.
  • Provides training to staff
  • Participates in staff training/professional development specific to the children's disabilities as directed.
  • Reports any concerns to the teacher(s) and BCBA.
  • Other duties and supports assigned by the principal, or Director of special education.
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • Must have current RBT certification
  • Education, Training and Experience:
  • 3 years of experience preferred
  • Experience working with students with ASD preferred
  • Experience with implementing behavior plans with fidelity preferred
