Job summary

The RBHS division at Rutgers University invites applications for an Instructor (Coterminous) to lead the Boggs Center Employment and Transition Team programs supported by the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities and the NJ Department of Education. The faculty member will supervise staff, provide training, collaborate with schools and state agencies, and contribute to applied research.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology or a related field.
  • Demonstrated teaching and in-service training experience.
  • Formal or informal leadership experience in a team-based setting.
  • Knowledge of lifespan issues and best practices from high school through aging for people with developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to represent the Center with Rutgers and other institutions and to work with diverse partners.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

RBHS Instructor (Faculty - Coterminous)

Description

The faculty member will direct the work of Boggs Center Employment and Transition Team programs supported through the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities and NJ Department of Education. The faculty member will provide supervision, conduct community training and technical assistance, and participate in applied research in program areas including life-course transitions from high-school through aging/end of life, integrated employment of individuals with developmental disabilities, and community services and supports. The faculty will assist organizations including schools, disability service providers, and state systems to promote best practices in supporting people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a member of The Boggs Center's Leadership team, participating in meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee NJ DDD supported Employment, Transition to Adult Life, and Aging projects and NJ DOE supported Community Based Instruction (CBI) and Person- Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) projects
  • Supervise and mentor project staff and students, as assigned
  • Contribute to training, technical assistance, and resource development efforts funded through DDD and DOE.
  • Teach courses and/or provide guest lectures in collaboration with Rutgers' schools or departments on behalf of The Boggs Center.
  • Develop and publish informational resources and scholarly articles.
  • Contribute to The Boggs Center's and Department's mission through lectures, conference presentations, research, and peer reviewed publication.
  • Ensure project staff complete all university-required compliance training, timesheets, and other necessary documentation
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of project team data entry/analysis
  • Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all required reporting
  • Represent the Boggs Center on external committees focused on transition to adult life, employment, aging, and/or similar topics
  • Foster and maintain relationships with funding entities
  • Write / contribute to the writing of grants, contracts, and MOUs

Requirements:

  1. A doctoral degree in Social Work, Education, Psychology or a related field.
  2. Demonstrated teaching and in-service training experience.
  3. Formal or informal leadership experience in a team-based setting
  4. Knowledge of lifespan issues and best practices ranging from high-school through aging/end of life for people with developmental disabilities.
  5. Ability to represent the Center within Rutgers and other institutions of higher education and to work collaboratively with representatives from a diverse range of settings, including state and federal agencies, advocacy organizations, schools, employers, and disability service providers.
  6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience acquiring external funding as well as conducting and coordinating research, training and technical assistance activities.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating and/or managing programs focused on improving the quality of supports related to transition to adult-life, employment, inclusive community services, and aging with disability.
  • Additional expertise in topics including human sexuality, individualized education program (IEP) development, school and community Inclusion, & grief and loss
