Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Materials Testing Specialist to join the Failure Analysis and Materials Engineering team. You will operate lab equipment and assist with investigations, generating data and reports across Rivian product lines.

You will lead characterization projects, maintain lab safety, and support the Rivian material property database while collaborating with engineers and scientists to ensure rigorous standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years hands-on experience in a materials characterization lab.
• Experience with diverse material testing equipment and methodologies.
• Experience reading and implementing testing standards (ASTM, ISO, AWS).
• Data manipulation or processing in Excel/Google Sheets.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist materials characterization projects across domains.
• Perform materials testing and validation on Rivian materials.
• Operate lab equipment (Instron, MTS, DIC) and shop tools.
• Maintain lab equipment and organize chemical inventories.
• Produce clear reports and present findings to the FAME team.
