Job Description

We are seeking a Raw Material Procurement Specialist to lead sourcing efforts for critical raw materials and intermediates supporting our R&D and GMP manufacturing operations. This individual will play a key role in ensuring secure, compliant, and cost-effective supply chains aligned with regulatory and operational standards.

Raw Material Procurement Specialist

Location:

Remote (preference for candidates located in CST)

Hourly Rate:

$30-35/hour + benefits (PTO, insurance, etc.)

Duration:

6-months (contract-to-hire)

Responsibilities

1. Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers of raw materials, chemical intermediates, and reagents critical to API development.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, and supply agreements with leadership, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery expectations are met.
• Monitor supplier performance and lead corrective actions when needed.

Procurement Execution

• Generate purchase orders and oversee the procurement process for raw materials.
• Ensure timely delivery to meet project and production timelines.
• Coordinate with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to forecast material requirements.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure sourced materials comply with FDA, ICH, cGMP regulations.
• Maintain documentation such as Certificates of Analysis, MSDS, and supplier qualification records.
• Support audits and inspections related to raw material procurement.

Inventory & Cost Management

• Maintain optimal inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess.
• Work with warehouse and planning teams to track consumption and future needs.
• Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related field.
• 3+ years experience in raw material procurement within pharmaceutical, life sciences, or chemical manufacturing.
• Understanding of cGMP environments and regulatory compliance.
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle) and MS Office.

Additional Qualifications

• Familiarity with sourcing controlled substances or regulated chemicals.
• Knowledge of international trade and import/export regulations (DEA, REACH).
• Procurement certifications like APICS or CPSM are a plus.
