Job summary

Rittal LLC seeks an Automation System Service & Application Engineer to provide technical support, integration, and application development for Rittal Automation Systems. You will engage with clients to understand automation needs and ensure successful implementation of RAS products such as WT, MT, MTS, EHRT, and Perforex.

Responsibilities include on-site and remote troubleshooting, system integration, installations, and training sessions for clients.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent training.
  • Five+ years working in Controls Engineering or CNC machines with plant floor experience.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics, vacuum systems, electricity up to 460V, transformers, and motor systems.
  • Proficiency with CAD/AutoCAD for importing customer docs into RAS software.
  • Experience with automation systems, PLCs, and control technology.
  • Familiarity with Siemens TIA Portal and Rockwell Studio 5000; Rittal tools are a plus.
  • Able to read drawings precisely and communicate concepts clearly.
  • German language knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily support to customers and sales engineers for Rittal Automation Systems.
  • On-site and remote troubleshooting and support for automation systems.
  • Assist with integration of RAS products into customers' systems.
  • Perform installations and configurations at customer sites.
  • Diagnose faults, perform repairs, and implement corrective actions.
  • Train clients and end-users on Rittal automation systems.
  • Travel to North America, Canada, Mexico, and Germany up to 80%.
  • Coordinate with Rittal HQ, Eckelmann, Siemens, Kiesling on product issues.

Job description

Job Summary

As a Rittal Automation System Service & Application Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support, system integration, and application development for Rittal's automation systems. You will engage with clients to understand their automation needs and ensure the successful implementation and operation of Rittal products such as WT, MT, MTS, EHRT, and Perforex.

Primary Activities / Duties
  • Provides daily support to Rittal’s customers and Rittal Outside Sales Engineers as it relates to Rittal Automation Systems (RAS) machines or supplemental products.
  • Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting and support for Rittal automation systems.
  • Supports customers by being “on call” as needed.
  • Assist with the integration of Rittal automation products into existing systems, ensuring compatibility and optimal functionality.
  • Perform installations and configurations of automation systems at customer sites.
  • Diagnose system faults, perform repairs, and execute corrective actions in a timely manner.
  • Support the implementation, installation and repairing of RAS machine.
  • Conduct training sessions for clients and end-users on Rittal automation systems.
  • Assist with setup and demonstration of RAS machines during trade show and customer events.
  • Available for extensive travel to customer locations in North America (including Canada and Mexico) and Germany - up to 80%.
  • On-going communications with Rittal Headquarters, Eckelmann, Siemens, and Kiesling located in Germany regarding products, quality or any other issues regarding RAS.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Experience
  • B.S. degree with major in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent training required. Technical certification with PLC or CNC Controls or computers a plus.
  • Five plus years work experience in Controls Engineering or CNC Machines with plant floor experience required.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and vacuum systems, electricity (AC/DC), step up/step down transformers, single and three phase power up to 460 volts, linear actuator motors.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/AutoCAD drawing for importing customer documentation into the RAS software.
  • Experience with automation systems, PLCs, and control technology.
  • Strives for continuous improvement of equipment and processes by giving feedback that will improve reliability and technology.
  • Familiarity with automation software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000) and Rittal-specific programming tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of automation systems, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), and Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Must be able to visually communicate concepts, read drawings and be very detailed. Working knowledge of PLC logic and process troubleshooting.
  • Basic understanding of drilling, tapping, and milling of metal parts and the ability use measurement instruments.
  • Conversational and technical knowledge of the German language is a plus.
  • Experience with Microsoft products, including working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical as well as non-tech personnel. Ability to work independently as well as a member of multi -functional team.
  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal, problem-solving, decision making skills, ability to concentrate and pay close attention to details and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be available to work daily/weekly overtime as needed.
