Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Scientist in Rare Disease Biology in the United States. You will contribute to discovery and advancement of therapies for rare diseases, applying experimental and data-driven approaches to investigate disease mechanisms and therapeutic targets within multidisciplinary teams.

You will integrate experimental findings with human genetics, literature, and clinical data to develop mechanistic insights and inform portfolio decisions, while collaborating with computational scientists

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree or equivalent research experience.
• Strong background in cellular and molecular approaches to rare disease biology.
• Experience with human cells, fibroblasts, organoids, or tissue models.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and interpret in vitro and ex vivo studies on disease mechanisms.
• Generate reproducible data to support target identification and validation.
• Investigate mechanisms in thyroid eye disease and related pathways.
• Integrate findings with literature, genetics, and multi-omic datasets.
• Develop innovative approaches to improve experimental rigor and translational relevance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Communicate data-driven insights to project teams and governance forums.
• Maintain thorough documentation and promote knowledge sharing.
• Foster scientific curiosity and continuous learning within the team.
• Contribute to portfolio strategy and program reviews.
