Job summary

The Raptor Center Clinic at the University of Minnesota seeks a Relief Rehabilitator to support care for wild raptors, including rehabilitation, flight reconditioning, and pre-release exams. You will coordinate with staff veterinarians and supervise volunteers to ensure high standards of patient care and public engagement.

This 6-month, full-time position requires flexible hours, weekend work, and strong teamwork and communication to manage care for multiple birds and volunteers in a dynamic

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 1 year of professional wildlife rehabilitation experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse groups.
  • Strong observational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with others in a team.
  • Must meet physical requirements of the job.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Gmail, and PowerPoint.
  • Positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and respond to department needs.
  • Ability to work in a high-activity environment and adapt to changing schedules.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with rehabilitative care, flight conditioning, and pre-release examinations.
  • Care for juvenile raptors during baby season, including renesting and fostering.
  • Coordinate with clinic manager on oversight of mouse colony.
  • Support daily patient care and assist veterinarians and technicians.
  • Engage and train volunteers to perform care tasks and update the public.
