Job summary

The City of St. Charles Parks and Recreation Department seeks a full-time Ranger Sergeant to supervise park patrol, outdoor education, investigations, and traffic regulation under the Chief Park Ranger. A POST-certified peace officer with supervisory experience is required, with a strong focus on safety and community outreach.

Must meet all training requirements, including First Aid/CPR and CEU mandates. Expect a comprehensive benefits package and shift versatility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• POST Certified peace officer by Missouri DPS.
• 3–5 years full-time supervisory experience in law enforcement preferred.
• First Aid/CPR certification required.
• US Citizenship as required by law.
• Minimum age 21 at time of employment.
• State CEU: 48 hours every 3 years; Department CEU: 16 CEU per year.
• Regis and MULES Certification required within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Patrols park grounds and facilities; promotes outdoor education and regulates traffic flow.
• Apprehends and arrests criminal violators; coordinates patrol activities with other agencies.
• Assist in developing patrol programs and policies; supervise ranger staff.
• Develop and implement public relations materials; assist in budget planning.
• Prepare incident/accident reports; testify in court as needed.
