Job summary

Army Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) at Fort Polk seeks a full-time range operations assistant to open and close the range, transport firearms and ammunition, and ensure compliance with safety protocols. You will coordinate medical support, instruct patrons on range safety, and manage ammo inventory and cashier duties.

You will also supervise staff, train participants, and perform other duties as assigned while maintaining detailed records and ensuring customer satisfaction in a busy military

Qualifications

• Prior experience with firing range operations, skeet and trap and firearm safety, and firearms instruction.
• Must possess basic knowledge of National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) rules and scoring.
• Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and cash register.
• Possess good customer service skills and have experience working with the general public.
• Must be able to obtain current instructor-level certification in (at minimum) basic shotgun shooting, and range safety officer, from a recognized national governing body within 60 days of entrance on duty.

Responsibilities

• Executes range facility opening, closing and operating procedures in accordance with installation, local, and federal laws. Transports guns and ammunition to the range on a daily basis.
• Coordinates medical support through the installation range control agency. Instructs patrons on range safety practices and provides general fire arm and marksmanship information.
• Ensures proper handling storage, accountability, inventory of ammunition and firearms. Checks inventory and supplies and reorders supplies as needed.
• Issues ammunition and range related accessories to customers, checks ID, and collects fees. Performs cashier duties and maintains records of sales.
• Trains and assigns task to subordinate staff. Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment.
