Job summary

Qualifications

• Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in the Federal service which includes: 1) Provide guidance on regulation requirements for live operations safety; 2) Assess the adequacy of training areas to determine suitability for related operational needs and;3 Conduct inspections of live fire training areas to verify compliance with required regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS 06.
• Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Responsibilities

• Monitor range complex activities to ensure compliance with established firing restrictions or required safety procedures.
• Provide basic guidance to authorized users on proper use of ranges or training areas based on established tactical or gunnery requirements.
• Review range schedules or firing data to verify completeness of required documentation prior to routine site checks.
• Maintain official records or reports to support follow-up actions related to identified safety issues or training hazards.
• Coordinate routine work priorities with range inspectors or units to support continuity of daily range operations.
• Operate a commercial 4×4 vehicle over designated roads or trails to reach assigned range locations.
