Job Title:

Range Safety Engineer

Location:

Huntsville, AL - (Hybrid)

About the Role:

Canvas is seeking a talented Range Safety Engineer to support the MDA Targets and Countermeasures Engineering Directorate. Responsibilities include developing and verifying flight termination systems and range safety requirements, hardware and software development, acceptance, qualification, integration, checkout, and supporting failure investigations and review boards.

Responsibilities:
  1. Serve as Range Safety expert during flight tests, working groups, and testing.
  2. Oversee requirements development, allocation, and verification for flight termination systems, including autonomous systems.
  3. Prepare reports documenting status, findings, and recommendations.
  4. Represent customer interests in forums and meetings.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in STEM field.
  • 12+ years experience in missile defense or similar complex DoD programs.
  • Ability to work independently and lead teams.
  • Knowledge of Range Safety Requirements and flight safety analysis.
  • Proficiency with Range Tracking Systems and relevant standards.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with autonomous flight termination.
  • Experience in flight test range safety.
  • Background in RF systems, batteries, ordnance, antennas.
  • 10+ years in defense and aerospace.
  • Leadership and collaboration skills.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willing to travel up to 10%.
