Job summary

Private Company (Construction) is seeking an experienced Ranch Manager to oversee a 300-acre operation in Ivanhoe, CA, including walnut and citrus orchards. The role requires hands-on leadership, irrigation expertise, and coordination of multiple teams to ensure productivity and safety.

The candidate will manage daily activities, supervise staff, maintain equipment, and collaborate with PCAs and vendors. Flexible scheduling, with some evenings and weekends, may be required during seasonal peaks.

Qualifications

• Wealth of agricultural management experience, preferably in permanent crops.
• Strong knowledge of orchard operations and crop production practices.
• Experience operating tractors and farm equipment.
• Ability to coordinate with PCAs, vendors, and seasonal labor.
• Proven leadership and personnel management skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean record.
• Independent work style with good organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day ranch operations for walnut and citrus production.
• Monitor and maintain irrigation systems for efficient water use.
• Operate and coordinate repairs for tractors and farm equipment.
• Pull trailers and transport equipment as needed.
• Coordinate with PCAs and applicators for spray schedules.
• Schedule and supervise vendors, contractors, and seasonal crews.
• Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate ranch staff.
• Monitor orchard conditions and apply cultural practices.
• Maintain records of irrigation, equipment, labor, and chemical use.
• Ensure safety regulations and best practices are followed.
• Assist with harvest planning and execution.
• Respond to urgent needs outside normal hours during critical farming periods.
