Job description

As Ranch Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of a 10,000-acre private hunting ranch in South Texas, ensuring the property, hunting operations, facilities, staff, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards. This role serves as the primary on-site operational leader and is responsible for coordinating ranch activities, supervising staff, supporting guest experiences, and maintaining the overall functionality and appearance of the property.


This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who is comfortable working in a rural ranch environment, balancing operational oversight with active participation in ranch maintenance and hunting-related activities.


In this role, you will:



  • Oversee and direct the day-to-day operations of a 10,000-acre private hunting ranch

  • Supervise, schedule, and coordinate the work of ranch hands, housekeeping staff, and other ranch personnel

  • Participate in employee training, performance management, work assignments, and provide input on hiring and disciplinary decisions

  • Coordinate hunting operations, guest activities, and ranch hospitality experiences

  • Establish operational priorities and ensure work is completed efficiently and safely

  • Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of ranch roads, fencing, feeders, water systems, barns, lodging facilities, and additional ranch infrastructure

  • Operate and oversee the use and maintenance of heavy equipment, ranch vehicles, and machinery

  • Perform and coordinate general ranch, equipment, and vehicle maintenance and repairs

  • Assist with wildlife and hunting support activities, including feeder management and dog handling/care

  • Monitor ranch conditions and proactively identify operational, maintenance, or safety needs

  • Maintain inventory and coordinate supplies, equipment, vendors, and service providers as needed

  • Communicate regularly with ownership or designated leadership regarding ranch operations, staffing matters, and property needs

  • Help maintain a safe, organized, professional, and guest-focused ranch environment


Qualifications


  • Minimum of 5 years of management or supervisory experience in ranch operations, hunting operations, agriculture, land management, or a related field required

  • Prior ranch management experience strongly preferred

  • Experience supervising employees and coordinating operational activities

  • Strong heavy equipment operating experience

  • Mechanical aptitude with experience maintaining ranch vehicles, tools, and equipment

  • Experience supporting hunting operations strongly preferred

  • Comfortable working with hunting dogs and ranch animals

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and make operational decisions in a remote ranch environment

  • Wildlife management knowledge is a plus, but not required

  • Dependable, self-motivated, and hands-on leadership style

  • Professional and respectful demeanor with guests, vendors, and staff

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during hunting season or operational needs


Work Environment & Physical Requirements


  • Frequent outdoor work in varying weather conditions

  • Ability to operate heavy machinery, ranch vehicles, and equipment

  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment as needed

  • Ability to walk extended distances across uneven terrain

  • Comfortable living and working in a rural ranch environment
