Job summary

MOHI Ranch in Morgan Hill, CA is seeking a dedicated Ranch Herd Assistant to care for Highland cattle and other livestock, including training and safe handling. This part-time, hands-on role focuses on daily animal care, safety, and guest-facing experiences at MOHI Ranch and MOHI Minis events.

You will feed, water, clean stalls, monitor health, assist with veterinary and farrier visits, and help prepare animals for weddings, photos, and educational programs.

Qualifications

• Has genuine respect for animals and provides exceptional care.
• Availability may include mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, Ranch events, and occasional offsite events.
• Is comfortable around cattle, bull, donkeys, and other livestock.
• Experience in livestock, ranch, farm, equine, veterinary care is strongly preferred.
• Calm, confident, patient, and consistent when handling animals.

Responsibilities

• Herd Care: feed, water, clean stalls, refresh bedding, and monitor wellbeing.
• Stall, pasture & property safety: inspect and secure areas, report hazards.
• Animal Handling: halter, lead, groom, and train herd members as directed.
• Grooming & presentation: prepare animals for experiences and events.
• Ranch experiences & events: assist with guest interactions and offsite appearances.
• Transportation & offsite events: assist with loading, transport, and setup.
