Job summary

A ranching company in California is seeking a Ranch Hand to perform daily operations at their ranch. The successful candidate will monitor animal health, conduct equipment inspections, and move cattle as necessary. Strong horse-riding skills and the ability to perform physical labor are essential. Qualifications

  • Strong horse-riding ability and experience.

  • Ability to repair ranch equipment, vehicles, and water systems.
  • Ability to perform basic welding and to use a cutting torch.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather and conditions.

  • Work is of physical nature, generally requires employees to lift up to 100 pounds and walk extended distances.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job description

The Ranch Hand is responsible for completing daily operations at Agri Beef’s ranch in Loomis, WA, including monitoring and moving cattle. Their work enables day-to-day operation of the ranch. This position reports to the Ranch Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitor animal health
  • Conduct equipment inspections
  • Move cattle on horseback, roping and doctoring cattle as necessary
  • Construct and maintain fence
  • Operate and maintain equipment to feed cattle
  • Operate and maintain haying equipment
  • Operate and maintain irrigation equipment, including pivots and wheel lines
  • Calve out cows and heifers
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment
  • Maintain a positive attendance record by demonstrating consistent and punctual attendance on a regular basis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of ranch working experience preferred
  • Experience working with AI
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
