JusticePoint is seeking a Ramsey County Jail Screening Specialist for the 2nd shift (12pm-10pm) to interview and assess inmates in the Ramsey County Detention Center and prepare objective court reports on risk and release conditions.

The role supports release preparation, pretrial supervision, and potential diversion considerations, with multilingual abilities preferred and a related bachelor’s degree required.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment background check by Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
• Valid Minnesota or Wisconsin driver’s license and automobile with insurance.
• Certified Pretrial Services Professional certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews and assessments of inmates in the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center.
• Provide detailed, objective reports to Court, Prosecution, and Defense including risk level and release recommendations.
• Assist with Release Preparation and delegated release authority as needed.
• Support diversion discussions and identify individuals eligible for diversion agreements.

Ramsey County Jail Screening Specialist 2nd Shift

The 2nd Shift Jail Screening Specialist (12pm-10pm) is responsible for conducting interviews and assessments of inmates in the Ramsey County Adult Detention Center. The Jail Screening Specialist provides a detailed and objective report to the Court, Prosecution, and Defense. This includes the defendant’s assessed risk level and recommendations related to release conditions. The Jail Screening Specialist may assist in the process of releasing individuals from custody to pretrial supervision and in providing a more in-depth assessment to identify individuals who may be eligible for a Diversion agreement. Staff will also assist with Release Preparation and will be granted Delegated Release Authority.

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Ability to communicate professionally and accurately, both orally and written
• Organized, attentive to detail, ability to multi-task, work independently
• Ability to work well with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
• Fluency in Spanish/Somali/Hmong (spoken and written) is preferred
• Experience working with criminal justice involved clients preferred
