Job summary

Menzies Aviation in North Charleston, SC is seeking a Ramp Supervisor to supervise unloading/loading of luggage, freight and cargo on/off aircraft, and to drive small ground support vehicles.

The role requires safety focus, ability to lift 70 lbs, and flexibility to work weekends/holidays; prior ramp experience is preferred; must pass pre-employment drug test and have a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Capable of lifting comfortably 70 lbs.
• At least one year of prior ramp experience preferred.
• Must be able to successfully complete Training.
• Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Work is done indoors and outdoors; comfortable in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise lead agents; allocating ramp agent resources as needed.
• Complete shift reports and clear all exceptions from the T&A system in a timely manner.
• Ensure ramp personnel adhere to safety regulations.
• Read and interpret loading instructions, labels, manifests, and routing tags.
• Assist in the baggage handling area.
• May operate various ground support equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Role Purpose

The Ramp Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising the unloading and loading of luggage, freight and cargo on and off commercial aircraft. The Ramp Supervisor will also drive and operate small specialized commercial vehicles. This position will require heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, and stretching.

What you will be doing:

• Supervise lead agents; allocating ramp agent resources as needed.
• Complete shift reports and clear all exceptions from the T&A system in a timely manner
• Ensure that ramp personnel adhere to established company safety regulations.
• Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous material identification labels, aircraft loading manifest, and baggage and cargo routing tags.
• Assist in the baggage handling area.
• May occasionally operate various pieces of ground support equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
