Job summary

Alliance Ground International (AGI) is seeking a Ramp Manager to oversee all ramp operations at our Newark area locations. You will lead ramp teams, coordinate ground support, and ensure safe, on-time aircraft handling. A minimum of 5 years in ground handling with 2 years in management is preferred.

Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's in aviation or related field, excellent leadership, and strong communication skills to align with safety standards and interdepartmental collaboration.

Position Overview

The Ramp Manager is responsible for overseeing all ramp operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely handling of aircraft on the ground. This role involves managing ramp teams, coordinating resources, and ensuring compliance with aviation safety and operational standards. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of ramp managing experience. Job Responsibilities
  • Manage and supervise ramp operations, including aircraft arrival, departure, and turnaround activities.
  • Oversee the team of ramp agents, ensuring efficient performance and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Coordinate the use of ground support equipment, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and utilized.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce delays.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation safety standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Communicate with flight crews, ground operations, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Prepare and present reports on ramp operations, safety audits, and staffing requirements.
Safety, Security and Compliance

Cooperate with their manager / supervisor to allow them to perform or comply with any legal requirements imposed on the company. Inform their manager / supervisor of any work situation, equipment, or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger to health, wellbeing, safety, and security. Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to their manager / supervisor, who will then follow the procedures contained in company and carrier Safety and Security procedures. Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific health, wellbeing, safety, and security rules or procedures. Fully understand AGI Health & Safety and Security policies. Attend training courses as may be required by AGI.

Qualifications and Skills

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds in confined spaces. Must be able to stand, lift, bend, push and pull for extended periods of time. Must be willing to work outside in all types of weather and elevated noise levels within the airport environment.

Education

Bachelor's degree in aviation, Logistics, or a related field preferred. If work location is in the United States, must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986. If work location is in Canada, must have authorization to work in Canada as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) of 2001.

Experience

5+ years of experience in ground handling or aviation operations, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

Skills

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to manage teams in high-pressure environments.

Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of ramp operations, aviation safety protocols, and ground support equipment.
