Job summary

IP Corporation is seeking a Railway Supervisor to manage safe, efficient rail operations within our Pryor facility. You will oversee railcar switching, inbound/outbound movements, and FRA compliance while supporting rail safety programs and staff training.

The role requires 3–5 years of locomotive/rail equipment experience, FRA knowledge, and strong leadership. A valid driver's license and MS Office proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 3–5 years of experience operating locomotives, Trackmobiles, or similar rail equipment.
• Experience with rail switching operations and rail yard activities.
• Working knowledge of FRA regulations and rail safety practices.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office apps (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute railcar switching in the yard and safely operate locomotives and rail equipment.
• Manage inbound/outbound railcar movements to support production and supply chain requirements.
• Serve as site lead for FRA compliance and rail safety programs and maintain procedures and training records.
• Coordinate FRA-required training and communicate regulatory changes to staff.
• Conduct briefings, audits, and inspections, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Perform daily inspections and complete required reports and documentation.
• Provide backup support to Materials Manager for inbound raw materials, inventory, and coordination with production and procurement.
• Promote a culture of safety and regulatory compliance across rail activities.

What is a Railway Supervisor?

The Railway Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all rail activities within the facility. This position manages railcar switching operations, coordinates inbound rail shipments from suppliers, oversees rail yard logistics, and ensures compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and company safety policies.

The Railway Supervisor serves as the site subject matter expert for rail operations and FRA requirements, supporting rail training initiatives and maintaining operational readiness. This position also provides backup support to the Materials Manager as needed. The ideal candidate brings strong rail operations experience, excellent leadership and communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

What You Can Expect to Do as a Railway Supervisor:

• Plan, coordinate, and execute railcar switching activities in the rail yard, and safely operate locomotives, Trackmobiles, and associated rail equipment.
• Manage inbound and outbound railcar movements to support production and supply chain requirements, coordinating placement and removal with suppliers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
• Serve as the site lead for FRA compliance and rail safety programs, maintaining site operating procedures, training records, and regulatory readiness.
• Coordinate and support FRA-required training for rail personnel, and communicate regulatory changes to affected employees.
• Conduct job briefings, audits, and inspections, identify compliance gaps, and implement corrective actions.
• Apply non-main track rules and switching procedures, including operating switches and derails, coupling and uncoupling railcars, connecting air hoses, and applying hand brakes.
• Perform daily inspections of locomotives, Trackmobiles, railcars, brakes, and safety devices, and complete operating reports, switching records, and required documentation.
• Provide backup support to the Materials Manager, assisting with inbound raw material scheduling, inventory management, and coordination with production, logistics, and procurement.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring all rail activities meet FRA, OSHA, DOT, environmental, and company requirements.

What We Are Looking For in a Railway Supervisor:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three to five years of experience operating locomotives, Trackmobiles, or similar rail equipment.
• Demonstrated experience with rail switching operations and rail yard activities.
• Working knowledge of FRA regulations and rail safety practices.
• Strong organizational and planning abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license .
