Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. in Bellevue, OH seeks an Electrical Apprentice Signal Trainee to train in FRA-compliant signaling work and advance toward Signalman or Signal Maintainer roles.

The program includes on-the-job and in-class sessions (GA) with travel across regions and weekend/on-call duties. CDL Class A is required within 111 days of hire. Compensation starts at $1,200/week during training, then hourly increases.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1–2 years of related experience preferred.
• Technical Certification or AS degree preferred.
• CDL Class A license required within 111 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform FRA regulatory tests and inspections of signal systems and crossings.
• Install, repair, maintain, test and inspect signals equipment including lights, switch machines, and crossing devices.
• Test and inspect signal systems such as ATC, cab signals, and interlocking.
• Perform cable locates, painting, housekeeping of signal housings and equipment.
• Travel and on-call availability including weekends.
