Job summary

Alstom in Kanona, NY seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead 3D modeling, design annotations, and BOM development for renovation and overhaul projects. You will collaborate across operations, design teams, and production for compliant, manufacturable solutions.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in design or 2+ years in railcar projects, and Catia v5 proficiency. English is required; French is a plus. On-site with growth opportunities in a global mobility company.

Qualifications

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
5+ years in Mechanical Design Engineering or 2+ years in railway or railcar products.
Knowledge of metallic materials and welding, forming processes.
Experience with welding codes such as AWS.
Catia v5 experience (min 3+ years full-time or 5,000 hours).
Familiarity with PLM tools (Enovia-DMA, 3DCom).
Experience with overhaul projects and reverse engineering.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
English fluency; French knowledge is a bonus.

Responsibilities

Develop the complete technical Scope of Work for renovation and overhaul projects.
Create and review 3D models, 2D deliverables, and design annotations.
Conduct stack-up analyses and ensure QCD commitments.
Prepare and document internal and external mechanical design reviews.
Design products that meet project requirements, including manufacturability and serviceability.
Monitor and report mechanical activity progress and address issues.
Provide technical support to production teams and customers.
Ensure supplier and sub-contractor design quality.
