Job description

Department: Department of Transportation

This position is located in the Technical Training Standards Division (TTSD), Office of Data Analysis and Program Support, Office of Railroad Safety (RRS), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The position of Railroad Safety Specialists Trainer in the Track discipline. The trainer will provide technical training and development while also organizing training activities throughout the FRA.

Key Responsibilities

As a Railroad Safety Specialist-Training, you will: Serve as subject matter expert for the Track discipline to ascertain the technical training needs of the Office of Railroad Safety. Coordinate and liaison with the Office of Railroad Safety Management to ensure that inspection, networking and training programs and systems are developed which are consistent and supportive of current and proposed enforcement policies and procedures.

Conduct planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of methodolgies to facilitate the accomplishment of internal training programs. Develop and provide technical guidance to Federal Railroad Administration personnel and relevant stakeholders on inspection programs, informational networking systems (internal and external), and rail safety training programs.

Develop, recommend, implement, and evaluate understanding of policies to ensure effective, consistent, and responsive application in the Office of Railroad Safety. The ideal candidate for this position is a mission focused professional who has experience providing guidance, interpretation, and enforcement of FRA regulations and procedures concerning the Track discipline, strong training development, and delivery skills.
