Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge in Athens, GA to oversee construction, maintenance, and safety compliance for rail operations. This role requires extensive field work with a strong emphasis on safety, documentation, and regulatory adherence.

The CIC will coordinate with dispatchers and engineers, supervise flagging activities, and ensure all procedures meet FRA and company standards. Travel 50–85% and maintain readiness for multi-month deployments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 2 years' railroad experience preferred (maintenance of way or TY&E).
• Valid driver's license required.
• Strong communication and organizational skills required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) during track work.
• Monitor track conditions, approach trains, and coordinate work activities.
• Document all activities and submit reports to management/regulators.
• Enforce all Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
